Zionistas are very interested in drama. They can learn English and Filipino from writing a script to speaking lines on stage before the audience. Drama is a good means to arouse students’ interest to write or speak. Having a good command of English and Filipino enables students to explore the outside world in order to have a better career.
Objective
Teatrong Zionista Club helps strengthen members’ skills of understanding and interpreting dramatic texts through reading and writing in English and Filipino. In addition, it can enhance members’ speaking and listening skills by encouraging them to play different roles in different dramatic contexts. As spectators, a drama club can enable students to learn by appreciating a drama production.
The Drama Club will dedicate to promote drama education in our school and provide a variety of performances for students. Students are given many golden opportunities to realize their talents. Moreover, the club aims to teach them how to appreciate dramatic literature and its techniques, and also help students to attain a better mastery of language.
Advantages
Drama can help develop members’ abilities to respond to characters, and themes in dramatic English and Filipino texts through verbal and non-verbal means. Members have to rehearse the drama by listening to other actors’ lines and by reading aloud their own lines. They can even create their script and interact with other members. As a result, practice makes perfect. Their listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills will be polished.
The Drama Club admittedly does well to our students and helps to nurture well-rounded individuals. By adding the Drama Club, the school can cater to the great diversity of students’ interests. Each club requires many organizations. This certainly provides a chance for students to enhance their leadership skills and cooperation spirits since they need to work for hand in hand to run the club, deal with every problem of the club and design plenty of activities. Their self-confidence and poise can also be developed. By participating in Drama Club, students can obtain other learning experience. All in all, the establishment of the Drama Club can increase our school students’ competitiveness and gain glory for the school.
Activities
The Drama Club will provide an array of activities. Regular meetings will be conducted every week. In the meetings, members can watch a drama production and then comment on the performances of the actors or the production crew in order to avoid making mistakes in their own production. Throughout the meeting, they would communicate. As such, their spoken will improve. Drama club should also arrange an annual production in the hall. Students can try their very best to perform in front of the audience. In fact, their speaking skills will again be greatly enhanced because they will have to communicate among the team, the director and actors and speak their lines fluently in order to have a good drama production.
